Randy Boissonnault, who faced scrutiny over claims of Indigenous heritage, drops out of upcoming election

The Liberals will have to find a new candidate for the riding, which is one of the few in Alberta that the party hopes to win

Randy Boissonnault, the Liberal MP for Edmonton, will not run in the 2025 federal election after facing scrutiny over claims of Indigenous heritage and a pandemic-era health-contracting company. He stepped down from his cabinet position last November and cited a difficult year for his family as the reason for his decision. He had previously represented the riding from 2015-2019 and then again from 2021.
