EnergyCloud urges Government to ensure scale-up of solution with ‘broader pilot’ for 10,000 households
EnergyCloud Ireland reports that €2.1 billion in wind energy has been wasted in Ireland since 2017 due to dispatch-down instructions from EirGrid, enough to heat 2.34 billion tanks of hot water for energy-poor households. EnergyCloud advocates for wider adoption of smart devices to capture and use surplus wind energy for heating, reducing energy poverty and reliance on fossil fuels. They urge the government to scale up pilot programs to 10,000 households, alongside grid reinforcement and battery storage development.
