In February 2025, a 17-year-old boy was sentenced to 20 months detention for instigating a July 2023 assault on American tourist Stephen Termini in Dublin. Termini, who was attacked by three boys, suffered serious injuries including vision impairment, back injuries, and speech difficulties, incurring significant medical costs. The teenager, who pleaded guilty to assault causing harm, had prior convictions, and the court heard Termini was attacked after speaking to girls on the street. Two other boys involved received sentences of 32 and 26 months respectively.
