Thai cops uncover 'scam call centre farms' with 100,000 people forced to make calls

Scam call centre farms set up in Thailand are generating billions of dollars every year, as the criminal gangs that run them traffic people in from countries across Asia

Thai police uncovered scam call centre farms, primarily near the Thai-Myanmar border, where approximately 100,000 people are forced to defraud victims out of billions of dollars annually. The crackdown, intensified after a Chinese actor's abduction, involves multinational efforts to dismantle these centres, rescue workers, and repatriate them, although some willingly travelled initially. Thailand is cutting off essential resources and advocating for international cooperation to investigate and prosecute the criminals involved.
