US legal protections to be removed for immigrants from four countries

Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans would become liable to deportation under the order which affects 532,000 people.

The Department of Homeland Security will revoke legal protections for approximately 532,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans who entered the US under the humanitarian parole program since October 2022, potentially leading to their deportation starting April 24. This action, impacting those with two-year work permits, is part of a broader effort to end the "abuse" of humanitarian parole and follows a lawsuit seeking to reinstate the program.
