Brigadier General Rossa Mulcahy has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, succeeding Lieutenant General Seán Clancy in June. Clancy will become Chair of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC). The appointment is for a minimum of two years, and Mulcahy will be eligible to apply for the new position of Chief of Defence when it is established as part of reforms to the Defence Forces' command and control structure.
