As Defence Forces chief takes EU's top military job, his support team heads to Brussels

Approximately 10 military officers and non-commissioned personnel will travel with Lt General Seán Clancy to Brussels for at least three years.

Lieutenant General Sean Clancy, Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces, will become head of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) in June, relocating to Brussels with a support team of approximately 10 Irish military officers and personnel for at least three years. The team, selected through an internal competition, includes experts in strategic planning, project management, and administration, with a separate close protection team likely from the Army Ranger Wing. Brigadier General Rossa Mulcahy will succeed Clancy as Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces.
