Oil tanker bursts into flames off the Yorkshire coast after being struck by container ship

US-flagged tanker, MV Stena Immaculate, was hit by container ship, MV Solong, off the coast of Humber Estuary this morning.



An oil tanker and container ship collided off the Yorkshire coast, causing an explosion and fire, sparking environmental disaster fears. The US-flagged oil tanker, carrying jet fuel, was struck by the Portugal-flagged container ship while at anchor. A major rescue mission is underway, and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch is investigating. All crew from the oil tanker are confirmed safe.
