Politicians ‘cannot be responsible’ for National Gallery’s unused €120,000 scanner, says Taoiseach

X-ray scanner was purchased eight years ago but no suitable room has been found



Arts Minister Patrick O’Donovan expressed "huge embarrassment" over the National Gallery's purchase of a €125,000 X-ray scanner eight years ago that has never been used due to the lack of a suitable lead-lined room. The issue was raised in the Dáil, with calls for accountability from the National Gallery and for the former arts minister to answer questions regarding spending.
