X-ray scanner affair shows ‘really, really poor project management’, according to Patrick O’Donovan
In 2021, the Department of Arts was alerted to issues with a €125,000 X-ray scanner purchased by the National Gallery of Ireland in 2017, which has remained idle for nearly a decade due to a lack of suitable space. Arts Minister Patrick O’Donovan criticized the project management and confirmed the gallery will fund its installation using its own resources, potentially in a modular cabin, a plan he was unaware of.
