Department of Arts alerted to problems with idle €120,000 scanner back in 2021

X-ray scanner affair shows ‘really, really poor project management’, according to Patrick O’Donovan

The Department of Arts was alerted in 2021 to problems with a €125,000 X-ray scanner purchased by the National Gallery of Ireland in 2017 that has remained idle for almost a decade due to the lack of a suitable location. Arts Minister Patrick O'Donovan criticized the project management and stated no further public funds would be used to resolve the issue, requiring the gallery to use its own resources.
