All North Lanarkshire Council housing tenants to receive free internet access

The long-term connectivity plan to deliver free digital access to 36,575 homes, aims to address digital exclusion, which can create barriers to knowledge, opportunity, skills and employability.



North Lanarkshire Council will provide free internet access to its 36,575 housing tenants, a first for any Scottish council, aiming to address digital exclusion and improve access to services. The plan, expected to take 10-15 years, will involve a smart-home model and utilizes a 340km gigabit cable network.
