Trade, human rights, Ukraine war raised at meeting with China’s foreign minister
During a meeting in Dublin, Tánaiste Simon Harris raised trade issues (including Irish beef access to China), human rights concerns (Hong Kong, Xinjiang), and the Ukraine war with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Harris emphasized Ireland's desire for China to use its influence to end the war in Ukraine, respecting Ukraine's territorial integrity. They also discussed the Middle East ceasefire and hostage release. Prior to the meeting, Uyghur and Hong Kong communities urged the government to address transnational repression with Wang Yi.
